Sobre este artículo
UK: Readers Union, 1977. Emma Dashwood did indeed go to Russia to work as a governess, in the autumn of 1911. But the Emmie of the title also represents the surprisingly large number of 'Miss Emmies" who went out to Russia from the early nineteenth century onwards and gradually established the English governess as a familiar institution in upper-class Russian society. In the period from 1917 to 1929 they were to find themselves unwilling but active participants in the turbulent life of Revolutionary Russia. By the term "English" - it meant English speaking ( for there were many Scots and Irish governesses). These are first-hand accounts of this period in Russian history. Yellow cloth boards, gilt title print to spine. Map endpapers. Neat name stamp to fep. Text is age-toned. A photo section is provided. Photo dust jacket shows sunned spine but title print still bright. A nice, clean copy of an interesting read.. Hard Cover. Very Good/Very Good.
