This biography is written by Helen Henschel, his daughter by his first wife with whom he sang and conducted. In the later part of his life he remarried and extended his skills to broadcasting in the early years of that new form of musical experience. In 1874 he attended as one of his first major concerts a music festival at which Brahms was present and they struck up a friendship and correspondence which lasted for some years. The text of some of their correspondence is included.* A NEAR VG copy with NO MAJOR FAULTS but lack of dust jacket reduces it to GD++.*
