The publisher's 32 page catalogue to the rear is dated 10/05 in this copy (rather than 05/05 for the first issue). Blue cloth with title in black on front cover and in gilt on spine. Maroon endpapers. Condition: Good, with general shelfwear to covers, slightly more so to head and tail of spine and cover corners. Some light soiling to spine. Previous owners name at top of half-title and first page of text. Binding is cracked internally in a couple of places but otherwise sound. Some occasional light foxing to text. 319pp. .

Sinopsis

Where Angels Fear to Tread (1905) follows two women to Italy: the widowed Lilia Herriton and her traveling companion Caroline Abbott. Lilia falls passionately in love with the country, and also with a young Italian man. Her decision to remain in Italy enrages her dead husband's family, who send her brother-in-law to fetch her back.
