A scarce edition of this work with a rare alternative, vibrantly coloured frontispiece by the celebrated illustrator, Arthur Rackham. This edition also includes monochrome versions of the original illustrations from the first edition, with the original frontispiece now in the text. Illustrated with the rare colour frontispiece and title page with colour vignette of a flag and six monochrome plates by Rackham. Collated complete. This adventure novel was written by Henry Harbour and beautifully illustrated by the famed Arthur Rackham. Rackham was one of the leading book illustrators from his era and is best known for works such as 'Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens' and 'Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm'.In the publisher's original decorative cloth.Undated, dated by the adverts to the rear. In the publisher's original decorative cloth. Externally excellent with a very minor lean and light shelf wear and minimal rubbing to the pictorial design to the spine. Lacking front free endpaper with offsetting to the rear. Internally firmly bound with occasional light spotting, heavier to the front with slight offsetting to the half title. Very Good Indeed

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
