Sobre este artículo

New York: Reynal and Company, 1957. Originally published in Germany under the title Wo Berge Goetter Sind (Where Mountains are Gods.) Translated from the German by Michael Bullock First American Edition 8vo size green clothbound hardcover with color photo illustrated dust jacket; 256 pages with some black and white illustrations on glossy stock. From jacket: "(The author) went to Tibet and the neighboring mountain countries to study the legends, customs and religious traditions of the Himalayan peoples. His three-year visit coincided with the turbulent period when revolution broke out in Nepal and Tibet was conquered by Red China. In this account of his travels he describes his experiences and gives much new and fascinating information about the people he was living among. He met lamas and explorers, princes and adventurers, saints and ministers. He visited Bhutan, which has been penetrated by only a dozen Europeans in the 12 centuries of its history... He witnessed the extraordinary trance of an "oracle priest"' the mystical marathon run b the Yogis every 12 years; and a royal Sikkimese wedding, at which the weather-makers produced torrents of rain by mistake..." Bumped head and heal of spine and bumped corners; edgewear and wear to jacket with some minor chipping to head of spine and bottom front corner a large tear to the bottom of back of jacket and several smaller tears to jacket spine. Bottom fore-edge has shelf soil and top is dusty. There is a light water stain to the top of back dust jacket and back flap of jacket and top corner of rep. There is also a light water stain on the inside of the front of jacket. We see no water damage to the text. . First American. Cloth. Good/Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
