Carolyn Wheat , a former defense attorney with the Legal Aid Society in Brooklyn, New York, is the author of four previous Cass Jameson novels, including Where Nobody Dies , the Edgar Award-nominated Dead Man's Thoughts , Fresh Kills and the Edgar Award-nominated Mean Streak .
