First Edition, First Printing in a second issue dust jacket as described in Hanrahan A58: The book's title page proudly displays the statement, "Copyright 1963 by Maurice Sendak. Printed in the United States of America. All rights reserved. Library of Congress catalog number: 63-21253." The second issue dust jacket is adorned with the Caldecott Medal on the front cover with the price of $3.50 noted at the top of the front inside flap. Additionally, the lower corner of the dust jacket has been clipped, featuring the numbers "40-80," "1163," and "HARPER & ROW PUBLISHERS." On the inside rear flap of the second issue dust jacket, it commences with the statement "Winner of the 1964 Caldecott Award" and concludes at the bottom with "Chosen Number. One/Best Illustrated Children's Book of 1963 by the New York Times." Hardcover. Oblong - 9 x 10”. Unpaginated [37 pp]. Good in a good dust jacket. The dust jacket is protected in mylar. Minor to moderate soiling and toning to the dust jacket with chipping, minor creases and short closed tears to the extremities. Chipping to the cloth along the edges of the boards. Internally very good. The interior appears unmarked. The binding is solid.
Sinopsis
Where the Wild Things Are is a 1963 children's picture book by American writer and illustrator Maurice Sendak, originally published by Harper & Row. The book has been adapted into other media several times, including an animated short, a 1980 opera, and, in 2009, a live-action feature film adaptation. According to HarperCollins, the book has sold over 19 million copies worldwide as of 2008.
