Binding is tight. Very faint modest thumbprint on about 4 pages otherwise pages are clean and very good. Dust jacket is worn at the extremities with several short tears, toned, and soiled with erasure of former owner's name on front flap. First Edition/Second Issue points include: Publisher's price of $3.50 on DJ flap with '40-80' and 1163 and lower corner clipped; 2 paragraphs rather than 3 on front flap (first printing calls for 3) ; gold foil Caldecott medal on front panel and mention of Caldecott award on back flap; Title page carries correct publication information including: Harper & Row, copyright 1963, LCCC number 63-21253. .
