San Francisco: Privately printed [by the Grabhorn Press], 1932. 1932. Very good.. - Quarto [11-1/4 inches high by 8-3/4 inches wide], decorative golden yellow boards backed with green cloth with a printed paper label on the spine. The binding is bumped with the head & tail of the spine slightly chipped. Colophon, title & 9 pages plus a facsimile letter tipped-in at the rear. The pages are very lightly bumped. Very good. <p>Limited edition of 150 copies printed by the Grabhorn Press for Alfred Sutro for distribution among his friends.<p>Inscribed by the author on the front endpaper: "Wm. M. Clearwater Esq. / member of the Book Club of California with kind greetings from its President / Alfred Sutro. / San Francisco May 8/'33."<p>Sutro writes that the story of the bet is fictitious but that the facsimile is of a genuine letter from Thomas Moore, who had recently published an edition of the letters and journals of Byron. Moore resolved the question of how Byron pronounced his name by writing that he used both pronunciations in the course of his life.
