The extraordinary and shocking story of Europeans captured by Islamic Barbary pirates and sold into slavery in North Africa. Resourceful, resilient and quick-witted, the young cabin boy was selected by Moroccan Sultan Moulay Ismail, and as a personal slave of the sultan would witness first-hand the barbaric splendour and daily terror of the imperial Moroccan court. .
