Sobre este artículo

Yale University Press, 2009. Soft cover. Good. 8vo - over 7. Yale University Press, 2009. Trade Paperback in Good Condition. Translated from the Russian by Marian Schwartz. Introduction by Evgeny Dobrenko. White illustrated wraps clean and unmarked with light wear to edges. Binding tight and solid and square. Pages clean, copious notes, check marks in pencil and ink--none interfere with easy reading. This classic modern semi-autobiographical novel by one of Russia's greatest avant-garde writers vividly recreates the chaos of Revolutionary Kiev in 1981. He tells of a Russian family plunged into the chaos of civil war, contrasting the cruelty and violence of the era with individual acts of humanity. Mikhail was a prolific Russian novelist and playwright considered one of the greatest Russia writers and among the foremost critiques of the Soviet social hierarchy. 352 pages. 8vo. 2009, Yale University Press. ISBN10: 0300151454, ISBN13: 9780300151459

Sinopsis

Set in Kiev during the Russian revolution White Guard tells a story about the war's effect on a middle-class family and was turned into a hugely successful play on publication. It brought the author overnight success and became 'a new Seagull' for the new generation, although it also received hostile reviews for the sympathetic portrayal of White officers. Paradoxically, The White Guard was one of Stalin's favorite plays. It was banned in 1929, reinstated in 1932 but published only in 1955.
