Published with The American Museum of Natural History, this recounts the expedition launched by 8 greenhorn scientists setting off at the headwaters of the Amazon River, over 2 years, down the Rio Blanco and up the Rio Negro. They were 6 eminent professors including a self-appointed Director, an Entomologist, a Botanist, an Ichthyologist, and a Statistician intent on gathering biological specimens of this newly explored territory. It stands as an account of how NOT to conduct an expedition. Bickering dwindled the party to 2 survivors, one being the author MacCreagh, b.1886, Indiana-d.1953, St. Petersburg, Florida.
