Sobre este artículo

New York, New York, U.S.A.: Dial Books for Young Readers, 1975 First edition, 14th printing near fine copy, very light wear. No writing or stickers or stamps. No dust jacket. Foil Caldecott Medal on front board. This really is a breathtakingly beautiful book. Copyright page has a paragraph explaining " .the art for this book was prepared in full color using watercolors applied with an airbrush in both fine spray and spatter technique, pastels rubbed on by hand, and india ink. The cut-out effect was achieved by actually cutting the shapes out of vellum and frisket masks at several different stages." Frisket Mask refers to a product used for a resist or masking technique. The result is a somewhat art nouveau effect with each figure being composed of pastel and variegated pieces separated by thick white or pastel lines. think Glasgow rose style employed with an airbrush technique to produce owls, snakes, lions and a host of other jungle animals in beautiful colours.

Sinopsis

"In this Caldecott Medal winner, Mosquito tells a story that causes a jungle disaster. "Elegance has become the Dillons' hallmark. . . . Matching the art is Aardema's uniquely onomatopoeic text . . . An impressive showpiece." -Booklist , starred review.

Sobre Sparkle Books

I search out used books on principle to highlight their value, keep them circulating and out of the landfill (and just because I am compelled to tell people to "read this"!)
