Trained in ballet and modern dance Veronica discovered tango while living in the Netherlands and, as she puts it in one of her essays, "Why tango changes your life", fell into the dance unintentionally but then thought "This is what I have been looking for my whole life so far." Veronica goes behind the surface, considering movement, the anatomy of the body, psychology and spirituality when teaching and in consequence has developed a reputation for truly teaching people how to dance tango. The essays in the book covers both technical matters to do with dance and the psychology of learning. She talks about why learning to dance tango well may have less to do with tango than one thinks and about why different teachers take different approaches and why different learners advance and benefit in different ways. This is very far from being a teaching manual for tango or for dance but is, rather, a series of well-considered musings on aspects of dancing tango well which can too often be overlooked. It's recommended for anyone with a genuine interested in exploring tango not only as a seductive dance but as an important part of life, for anyone, in short, who has become bewitched by tango.
