1908. A. W. von Schlegels. Translated by Friedrich Gundolf. Text throughout is clean and unmarked, pages very lightly tanned. Light brown boards are sturdy - showing edgewear and moderate scuffs and stains of age. Spines in poor condition - all but Vols I and IV have been taped either to protect them or to hold them on Vol. I spine is detached and hinges weak. Previous owner's label on front pastedown all volumes. Each volume 10-1/4" x 6-1/2" x 1-3//4"

Text in German. Burgundy cloth with gilt titles, gray patterned endpapers, pages printed in black and orange, top edge gilting. Cloth worn/frayed at the crown and heel, shelfwear at the tips and lower boards, few mild spots to the cloth, else very good. Binding tight, pages and text clean. Very good minus overall, internally very good.. Hard. Very Good Minus/No Jacket. Folio.

With woodcut initials and ornamental devices. First edition of Croisets meditation / devotional work, here on month March. 2 vols in 1. Text in Latin. Binding rubbed with wear to one corner & low. edge. one leather strap is loose. Wormhole to rear board. Inside fresh and firm with occasional minor spotting and minor staining to inner margin to begin. Fair. Photographs on request.

Printed by Oscar Brandstetter in Leipzig and illustrated with photolithographs after drawings by Julius Pascin. One of an edition of 100 copies bound in natural goat skin by H.Fikentscher in Leipzig. Overall size c.9. x 7.1/8 inches c.23 x 18 cm. 94 pages, 35 illustrations.Text in German. Binding very slightly spotted, internally fine. A very good copy. The first book with these illustrations was published by the Pan-Presse in 1910.
