Sobre este artículo

NY: Weathervane Books, 1960. First thus. Hardcover. Fine/Very good. Signed by Peterson in his usual diagonal style across the title page in a red pen. Uncommon signed, and uncommon edition in general, distinguished by being profusely illustrated in black and white by Peterson. Originally published in 1955 in the U.S. and now a classic of American nature writing, this book details the 30,000-mile journey by Peterson and his British colleague/counterpart James Fisher in 1953 around the edges of the United States and into Mexico, a one hundred-day journey to see and assess its natural splendor. They went south to the Gulf and then north to British Columbia. A fine book in very good plus jacket with slight toning/soiling to spine and top edges. .

Sobre Rural Hours

Rural Hours (formerly Wood + River = Books, est. 2019) specializes in ecology, natural history, nature writing, the environment, environmental literature, and contemporary essay, with a special passion for association copies and notable inscriptions. We draw our name from the popular-but-then-forgotten book by Susan Fenimore Cooper (published in 1850), generally considered the first work of environmental creative nonfiction by a woman in the U.S. We are interested in challenging and expanding the canon of environmental literature and finding books that tell remarkable stories and illuminate the tradition of writing about place and natural history.
