Purple cloth hardcover with gilt to spine and front (chimpanzee? on front); no jacket; beveled edges; brown endpapers; 231 pages plus publisher's adverts; b&w illustrations; 1868 on copyright page and no date on title page. Very good minus condition: spine slightly faded; mild wear to spine tips and corners of binding; slight scuffing to boards; straight and tight, although inner front hinge has been glued; name inside; slight toning and very sparse spotting to pages. .
