Gilt design and lettering on spine, with gilt lettering on cover. All pages edges gilt. Some shelf wear to edges and corners of boards and pages. 359 p. w/color illustrations, map. A nice reprint of Harris's 4 month expedition in north-east South Africa, with much information on Boers, hunting, and the native peoples. It was frist published in India under the title NARRATIVE OF AN EXPEDITION INTO SOUTHERN AFRICA, then given the current title and re-published in England.
