Sobre este artículo

Mylar Jacket Cover. Photographs by Claude Jaccoux- 32 page photographic section, color and b/w. Binding of blue-green full cloth with gilt Napalese Temple on front, gilt lettered on spine. Colorful jacket generally clean, unmarked, white and yellow portion has a greying effect; there is a piece missing from the rear upper edge. Bernstein projects the reader into "an extremely vivid natural environment, frequently hostile, surrounded by mountains, jungles, wild animals, often plague, without doctors to cure the sick, without electricity--". It is a factually and graphically rich rendering of ten million polyglot Nepalese and their 500-mile long buffer state landlocked between Indian and Tibet--with Sherpa mountain guides and fierce fighting Gurkha tribesmen, of a people who moved from the age of the wheel to the age of the airplane with no stops between. 186 pages. 9.5 x 6.4 inches. Simon and Schuster, New York, 1970.
