Sinopsis

The Winding Stair: Francis Bacon, His Rise and Fall is a skillful biography of Sir Francis Bacon written by Daphne Du Maurier. Lawyer, author, and philosopher Sir Francis Bacon once wrote, “All rising to great place is by a winding stair.” Bacon was 45 years old when he was made Solicitor-General by King James I. Du Maurier paints an illuminating portrait of this multi-faceted man.
