Sobre este artículo
The First UK printing published by Oxford University Press / Humphrey Milford, London in 1925. The BOOK is in Very Good++ or better condition. The book appears unread with many gatherings remaining uncut at the fore or upper edge. Some light spotting to the text-block and the boards. Free from inscriptions and erasures. Internally, some light spotting in places due to the quality of paper stock used. The WRAPPER is complete and is in Very Good++ or better condition. Toning to the spine as usually encountered with fading of the red lettering but the titling can just about be made out. Negligible edge-wear with a tiny slither of loss at the upper spine tip. The wrapper is protected in a removable Brodart archival cover. Charles Williams's fourth collection of poetry, exploring themes of Christian faith and doubt, and a 'fascination for the occult is evident in his early poems'(ODNB), seen here in his poems exploring the night, sleep and insomnia, and even a Black Sabbath hymn of praise to Satan entitled 'Witchcraft'. Charles Williams was a poet, novelist, and literary critic. He was a member of 'The Inklings' group along with C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien et al. A very sharp copy of a scarce title to be found with the wrapper in such collectible condition. More images available on request. Ashton Rare Books welcomes direct contact.
