Sobre este artículo
Oxford: at the University Press; London, Humphrey Milford,, [1925]. First edition, first impression, of Williams's fourth collection of poetry. While mostly theological in nature, exploring themes of Christian faith and doubt, Williams's "fascination for the occult is evident in his early poems" (ODNB), seen here in his poems exploring the night, sleep and insomnia, and even a hymn of praise to Satan entitled "Witchcraft" (pp. 114-116) to be sung at a witches's Sabbath. Charles Williams (1886-1945) was a poet, novelist, and literary critic. He was a member of the Inklings with C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien, as well as a member of A. E. Waite's Fellowship of the Rosy Cross. Octavo. Original grey cloth, titles to spine and front board in red. With dust jacket. Endpapers toned. Contents unopened. A superb copy in the browned jacket with a few tiny nicks to the edges.
