Blue linen boards/Fine. DJ/NF w/light edge wear, primarily to upper back, small closed tear to upper back corner, and trace surface rubs. Slight bends to portion of upper text from poor handling. Memoir and reflections from former Marine, naturalist and forest ranger, poet and songwriter Gary Milton Smith (1943-1988) who suffered from multiple sclerosis in latter years. His manuscripts are archived with Utah State Univ. This volume is about his songs. Included is "Dick's Song" written for Dick Smith, to whom this book is dedicated. The first and last stanza reads; "Hey Dick! Hear the rain fall!/Smashing on the slickrock!/Cuttin's through the sandstone/Rollin' round the dry bones" is also song to the enduring spiritual new frontier one still finds in American West even as physical lands are subdued. Music scores to rear. Fine copy.
