Hardcover. ; Navy cloth cover has modest wear to corners and spine cups with scuffed boards and a few small stains on back cover bright and in very good condition. Inscribed and signed by author (A. E. Van Vogt) on title page, which reads, "For ____, This was originally a 35000 word novella by Mayne & I added 25000 & a new villain for the book version. A E Van Vogt". Boards and spine are straight. Binding is tight. Pages are clean and pristine. Book has never been cracked open. Multiple items of ephemera laid-in including a 1979 science fiction convention flyer in which Van Vogt was guest of honor; a 1971 money order purchase receipt for the book to a used bookseller specializing in sci-fi and a portion of the packaging in which the book was shipped; and the entire cover and front matter of the first paperback edition published by Berkley. Dust jacket has a faint damp stain in upper right corner and wear otherwise clean, bright, and overall in very good condition. Publisher's price of $3.95 on DJ flap and small chip to back flap. DJ protected by a brand new, clear, acid-free mylar cover. We add mylar covers to all books with DJs to preserve the DJs and add luster to magnify their beauty.
