Takes the study of local history to new heights, telling the story of the flying machines that have shaped the development of the twentieth century as the author shows that Dorset was at the forefront in the trials of new technology, from the beginnings of aviation through the making of radar to the application of military flight-refuelling. Illustrated throughout with many remarkable photographs, the bulk of them previously unpublished. A large and heavy volume which will require an additional charge for overseas delivery. 4to.
