With vivid descriptions of the scenery and the people of the countries, with notes on how the author spent his time, and how the locals celebrate Christmas day.Including the author's observations made whilst residing in Hammerfest, a town in the Troms og Finmark county of Norway. Hammerfest is the northernmost town in Norway, with the midnight sun lasting from 15th May to the 31st July, and polar night from 23rd November to the 19th January.By Arthur de Capell Brooke, a Fellow of the Royal Society and co-establisher of the Raleigh Club, who is also known for writing this work 'Travels through Sweden, Norway, and Finmark to the North Cape, in the Summer of 1820' and 'Winter Sketches in Lapland'. Rebound in a cloth binding with new endpapers. Externally, smart. Some fading to the spine and extremities. Light marks to the boards and spine. A little rubbing to the spine label. Light bumping to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned with some spots, spots heavier to the first and last few pages. Pages unopened to the top edge. Small chips to the folds of the folding map, as is usual, with some small reinforcements to the reverse. Very Good

Where are We?
Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
