First Edition. 288pp. 8vo up to 9½" tall., Red cloth boards with black titles front and spine; roughcut fore and lower edges. Listing of Haggard's books to title facing page. In very nice condition; ghost mark to front and rear endpaper and otherwise contents are free of markings, tears, or folds. Tiny dot to front board and otherwise exterior shows little wear. The first appearance of Wisdom's Daughter was as a serialized novel, published in Hutchinson's Magazine in 13 parts from March 1922 through March 1923. It was published in book form in in London on March 9, 1923, by Hutchinson & Co in the UK. Wisdom's Daughter is the final published book in the Ayesha series but is a prequel to the first book titled "She". It tells the story of Ayesha's two-thousand-year life, from ancient Arabia, to Egypt, Persia, Greece, and on to Kôr.in the series, Along with the other three novels in the series, Wisdom's Daughter was adapted into the 1935 film "She". Henry Rider Haggard (1856-1925) was an English writer of adventure fiction romances set in exotic locations, predominantly Africa, and a pioneer of the lost world literary genre.
