Sobre este artículo

New York: Random House, 1967. Illustrated by Don Bolognese. Pp. [viii]+82+[4](blanks, publisher's note, colophon), pictorial double title page printed in green & black, black & white text illustrations (some full or double page); post 8vo; pale green cloth, lettered in gilt and decorated in blind; top edges blue/green; dust wrapper, edges lightly chipped and split, both panels faded near the backstrip; within pictorial card slipcase; Random House, New York, [1967]. First edition, being one of 500 numbered copies on special paper and specially bound. *The Nobel Prize winner's only book for children, published posthumously. The copyright date is 1964, but the publisher's note at the end gives a publication date of 1967, and explains that prior to this 'only a single copy of this book existed', in typescript form, bound by the author and dated 5 February 1927. That copy was an eighth birthday gift for Victoria Franklin, whose mother Estelle married Faulkner in 1929. (In fact, Faulkner later made a couple of other copies, also for gifts). 'This Random House edition follows the unique copy, which the author completed almost a year after the publication of his first novel and just before the appearance of his second' [publisher's note].
