Jena, Gustav Fischer, 1925. Large 4to (34.5 x 25.5 cm). 348 pp.; 46 lithographed plates. Original printed orange boards. Cloth spine with printed orange paper strip. One of the rarer parts of the Valvdivia expedition results. This work by one of the most influential German zoologists and malacologists, Emil Karl Hermann Johannes Thiele (1860-1935) contains many new species. The descriptions and illustrations on large plates are excellent. This is the second part of the Mollusca, dealing exclusively with gastropods. The first part (number VII, 1 of the series), written by Von Martens and Thiele, dealing with other molluscs, is not included here. An excellent clean copy.
