Large 4to (32.0 x 26.6 cm). 1346 pp. [(ii), 155, 402; (ii), 248, 263; (iv), 96, iv, 170]; and 31 [3, 14; 1, 11; 0; 2] plates and maps (one map in colour), many hundreds of text illustrations. Uniform contemporary half calf over grained black boards with gilt vignette. Spines with four raised, gilt-ornamented bands, compartments with gilt borders and two polished calf labels with gilt title. An attractive set. Contains several papers on marine research equipment, botanical contributions including a monograh on Caulerpa, and several papers titled Beiträge zur Meeresfauna von Helgoland, including, for instance, Die Amphipoden Helgolands, etc., etc. Also on gastropods, algae, and much more. Each volume consists of two parts, one edited by the Heligoland, the other bij the Kiel department, with separate pagination and plate numbering. Some light shelfwear, two peculiar marine library stamps on the front free endpapers and titles, otherwise clean and in near mint condition. Rare.
