New York: Doubleday, Page & Co., 1924. This handsome volume is from a set of Conrad that was published exclusively by Doubleday, Page & Co. for Wm. H. Wise & Co. of New York. (I am offering other volumes from this broken set as well). The book is bound in a woven khaki cloth, with blind-stamped borders and a vignette ship design on the front panel. It has top-edge gilt and rough-cut pages. It also has a paper spine label, which shows foxing, most likely from the original glue used during the manufacturing process. (Anyone with a little computer graphics knowledge could easily replace the label with a new one.) The book is tightly bound, and the pages are clean and bright throughout. The book measures 5 3/8 by 8 inches and includes 211 pages. . Hard Cover. Very Good+/No Dust Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
Sinopsis
In the private editorial office of the principal newspaper in a great colonial city two men were talking. They were both young. The stouter of the two, fair, and with more of an urban look about him, was the editor and part-owner of the important newspaper.
