Tan coloured cloth boards with silver illustration to the front panel and silver titles to the backstrip. Bumping to the backstrip edges and rubbing to the book corners. Browning and faint foxing to the text block edges. Browning, offset tanning and a few marks to the endpapers and age toning of the internal text. Plain text dustwrapper with blue background and dark blue and white titles to the front panel and backstrip. Rubbing and chipping to the dustwrapper corners and to the backstrip edges. There are five tears to the top dustwrapper edge, ranging in size from 0.2 5 -- 0 .75 ", with associated creasing. A little rubbing to the lower dustwrapper edge, fold over creases and either side of the backstrip. Heavy fading to the backstrip area. Rubbing to the other dustwrapper panels and handling marks are particularly noticeable to the rear dustwrapper panel. A series of 43 essays by a noted political writer from the 1950s. His essays range in topics from The Uses of Lipstick, On Boredom, On the Painful Art of Listening to The Customer Is Always Right plus many others. He takes the starting point from: -- ".... there is nothing serious which has not its comic side and nothing genuinely comic without a serious background." -- from the front fold over panel blurb.
