Good (rubbing to leather edges & corners. leather has scuffs & scratches, moisture-like darkened spots to front. pastedowns/hinges repaired. opening textblock hinge cracked; front hinge rattled. textblock has a few, less severe splits. instances of light, coffee-like staining to upper & lower pg edges/corners. a few plates detached and laid-in. tissue-guards tanned.). leather boards w/ embossed designs & gilt emblem; gilt spine printing & raised bands; gilt to interior board borders. 400 pgs w/ 25 color plates. all gilt edges. This appears to be an older, handsome rebinding of the original text. Cover pastedown has a small sticker from Thling Brothers Binders And Printers from Kalamazoo Michigan. Pastedown/hinge repair is with a black binding material. Lovely color plates of various important female figures from religion and literature.
