Sobre este artículo
London: Barrie & Jenkins, 1994. 1st ed.. Hardback octavo, dustjacket, very good condition (in good dustjacket), black & white & colour illustrations, illustrated endpapers, minor edgewear jacket (spine lightly faded, lightly foxed & marked, tiny hole fore-edge). Heavy, and extra postage may be requested to destinations outside Australia. 224 pp. Traces the history of the medium properly known as xylography. Wood engravings, traditionally small scale are printed from hard woods such as box, engraved on the end grain. Woodcuts, being incised with a knife on the plank, are bolder when the artist is obliged to contend with a wayward grain. The author demonstrates, with abundant illustrations, the continuing vitality of this ancient medium.
