Sobre este artículo
New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1883. Early printing. Hardcover. Good. New York: G. P. Putnam's Sons: 1883. 6 3/4 x 5 184 inches: pp. xvi, 296. Tan cloth covered boards with The Library of Political Education logo and design on front and back boards, and black type on spine. Includes index.
Reprint, originally published in 1872. Boards have soiling, rubbing to extremities, with one small tear to top of spine. Pages are toned, but unmarked. Binding solid, tight. An offering in the LIBRARY OF POLITICAL EDUCATION, for members of The Society for Political Education, which was in 1881 "organized by citizens who believe that the success of our government depends on the active political influence of educated intelligence, and that parties are means, not ends. It is entirely non-partisan in its organization, and is not to be used for any other purpose than the awakening of an intelligent interest in government methods and purposes tending to restrain the abuse of parties and to promote party morality..."
A seemingly unlikely discussion (given its author's patrician status) of the employed vs. employer, Trades Unions, Labour as Stimulator of Invention, Rise of Wages Abroad, Industrial Capabilities of Different Nationals Compared, Demand and Supply, Historical Sketch of Strikes, Wage Fluctuations, Piece Work, Courts of Concilation, etc.
