Sobre este artículo
Belford Clarke & Co. . Hardcover. Good. 0x0x0. This is actually a 15-vol. set, of which 14 are present. Missing is the final volume, "Child's History of England and Miscellaneous." Each volume has wonderful and intact engraved frontis. but they are in varying conditions. Pages in all volumes are clean and unmarked, tan but only the two detached t.p.s have any chipping. Volume 1, "Pickwick Papers," has engravings by F. Barnard and firm binding; light bumping of corners of unfaded black boards, slight rubbing of crown and foot of spine panel with stamped gilt lettering, rather faded, and floral decoration between slightly raised bands; volume 2, "David Copperfield," similar but with slight separation of t.p from text block near upper edge; volume 3, "Martin Chuzzlewit"is good bit with small ding at upper edge of rear panel; volume 4, "Nicholas Nickelby, with ill. by F. Barnard is in similar condition, but there is closed tear along crease of lower t.p.; volume 5, "Bleak House," with engravings by F. Barnard is very good, with newspaper article adhering to rear floral end page, concerning the discovery of the graveyard depicted in "Bleak House;" volume 6, "Little Dorrit," has engravings by J. Mahoney, and is in worse condition with crack after frontis. leaving t.p. detached--no pages missing; volume 7, "Dombey and Son," is in condition similar to first volumes, as is volume 8, "Our Mutual Friend;" volume 9, "Oliver Twist with Pictures From Italy and American Notes" is in worse condition, with gutter cracked after copyright page and attached spine panel detaching from firm text block, and somewhat more rubbing at crown and foot of spine; volume 10, "The Old Curiosity Shop," "Hard Times," and "The Holly Tree Inn," with engravings by S. Green, is firmly bound with boards in good condition; volume 11, "Tale of Two Cities" and "Sketches by Boz" has ill. by F. Barnard, is cracked between frontis and detached t.p., and in addition to scuffing at crown and foot of spine has ding on fore edge; volume 12, "Barnby Rudge" and "Mystery of Edwin Drood," has newspaper article taped to floral rear end page "Fate or Old Newgate Immortalized by Dickens," generally good but with pronounced ding on spine; volume 13, "Great Expectations", "Uncommercial Traveller," "Miscellaneous," has ill. by F.A. Fraser, and front gutter is cracked, detaching spine and front panel from text block (back panel is attached) and ding on rear fore-edge; volume 14, "Christmas Stories and Reprinted Pieces" has small closed tear along lower crease of copyright page but otherwise comparable to the better volumes.
