New York: Peter Fenelon Collier The Works of Charles Reade. A new edition in nine volumes illustrated with one hundred and twelve full-page wood engravings. No date, published circa 1900. Blue cloth with elaborate blindstamped decoration to front, gilt titling to front and spine, frontispieces with tissue guard, full page plates with wood engravings. Some wear to edges and corners, gilt to spines is rubbed. Volume 3 has a split between the front endpapers showing the webbing - binding is weakened, back hinge shows a partial split, some smudges to endpapers. Volume 4 has a creased title page. Volume 5 shows a small brown spot of discoloration. Volume 6 has a creased title page, a split between title page and table of content, binding is still sound. Volume 7 has a crease title page, split between title page and table of content, webbing is partially showing and the binding is slightly effected. Volume 8 has a couple of small spots of discoloration to front cover, split between title page and table of content, webbing is partially showing, binding is slightly effected. Volume 9 has a split between title page and table of content, webbing is showing and split between last two pages shows webbing, binding is weakened. A beautiful Victorian book set, beautifully illustrated. Shipping charges are calculated for a standard parcel under 1 kg.
