He wrote on a large variety of subjects including geology, architecture, myth, ornithology, literature, education, literature, education and the arts. Blue leather boards with five raised bands to spine. In publisher's full blue calf, with blind-tooled frame to boards, stamped in gold on spine. Marbled end papers. Gilt text block edges. Light edge wear, spines are sun faded, some rubbing/wear to spine. Interior of books are very clean. Bound by Frank Mansell, one of the first members of the staff of the Club Bindery. Grolier Club members and other wealthy collectors established the Club Bindery in order to attract European craftsmen to provide, close to home, fine quality binding work rivaling what was available in Europe.
