Sobre este artículo
Boston: The Jefferson Press. Very Good. [c.1870s-1910s]. Hardcover. A near-complete 10-volume set of the works of Nathaniel Hawthorne (1804-1864). Includes his major fiction works, including "The Scarlet Letter", "The House of the Seven Gables", "Mosses from an Old Manse", "Tanglewood Tales" and "Twice-Told Tales", as well as various other assorted works of fiction, notebooks, travel writing and letters. Each volume with tissue-guarded black & white illustration: occasionally portraits of Hawthorne or depictions of the topic of the particular volume at hand. In publisher Jefferson Press's 'Library Edition,' as authorized by Houghton Mifflin Company, who published a similar collection in 12 volumes. --- In maroon half leather over yellow marbled paper-covered boards. Top edge gilt, with gilt-stamped spine decorations and titling. Books carry various dates from the 1870s through the 1910s, exact publication date is not stated. --- A rather well-preserved set, but with some chafing to leather at spine ends and to edges of covers. One volume, which offers "The House of the Seven Gables" and "The Snow-Image" has a missing patch of leather at head of spine. All volumes with prior owner's bookplate affixed to front paste-downs. Overall, bindings are tight and the books are stable. (NOTE: Due to the weight of this item, extra shipping charges may be requested for any shipment other than by USPS Media Mail in the US.); Small Octavo - 7-1/2 to 8 in. tall .
