Sobre este artículo

First collected edition. Engraved frontispiece portrait by Vertue after Lely. Vol 1. Some Account of the Life and Writings of the Author; Observations Upon the United Provinces of the Netherlands; Miscellanea in 3 parts; Memoirs. The Third Part From the Peace concluded 1679 to the Time of the Author's Retirement from Publick Business. (10) ff, 480 pp. Vol 2. Letters (8) ff, 585 pp. The letters were edited by Jonathan Swift, who also wrote the Life. Ex libris of John Francis Basset to both volumes. Bound in contemporary calf which has been sympathetically and securely rebacked with refreshed red morocco labels and blind gilt tooling in compartments. Internally very clean and bright with endpaper of Vol 1 suffering some moderate staining, otherwise the text is very clean and bright with white pages throughout and very minor foxing. Sir William Temple, Baronet, (born April 25, 1628, London, Eng. died Jan. 27, 1699, Moor Park, Surrey, Eng.), was an English statesman and diplomat who formulated the pro-Dutch foreign policy employed intermittently during the reign of King Charles II. In addition, his thought and prose style had a great influence on many 18th-century writers, particularly on Jonathan Swift.
