However he was an incredibly self-critical poet, and only published thirteen poems during his life.Gray was offered the position of Poet Laureate, but turned it down. He is considered to be pre-Romantic.Including a life of Gray, and an interesting essay on the poetry of Gray.Illustrated with a portrait frontispiece to Volume I.Edited by the Reverend John Mitford. Bookplate to the front paste downs. In a half morocco binding with marbled paper to the boards. Light rubbing to the spines and boards. Spines are lightly faded. Very minor bumping to the extremities. Bookplate to the front paste downs. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with a few odd spots. Dedication leaf of Volume I has been removed. Mark to the last few pages of Volume II. Very Good Indeed

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
