Sobre este artículo

New York: Harper & Brothers, 1898. This odd volume is Number 13 from a 13-volume set of Thackeray's Works, known as the Biographical Edition. It includes more than 50 illustrations by the author, as well as famous illustrators George Cruikshank (of Dickens fame) and John Leech. Also included is a frontis plate portrait of the author, with tissue guard. This handsome volume also includes a biographical introduction by Anne Ritchie, Thackeray's daughter. The book is in Very Good condition and is bound in blue illustrated covers with repetitive floral designs and letter "T's" in dark blue surrounded by a dark blue border on both front and rear panels. The titles are in a die-stamped gilt on the spine. The book also features top-edge gilt and has rough-cut pages. The spine tips and corners show light rubbing, and there are some scuff marks on the front panel. The binding is tight and secure. The text pages are clean and bright throughout. In fact, many of the pages are uncut and the book has never been read. There is a handsome bookplate of the original owner on the front endpaper. The book measures 5 5/8 by 8 3/8 inches and includes 750 pages. . Hard Cover. Very Good/No Dust Jacket. Illus. by William Makepeace Thackeray. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

Sinopsis

A prolific writer, made most famous by his writing Vanity Fair, William Makepeace Thackeraywas considered second only to Dickens when he was alive. A witty satirist, he mocked the Victorian era with a light hand and good humor: "O house, you are inhabited—0 knocker, you are knocked at—O undressed flunkey, sunning your lazy calves as you lean against the iron railings, you are paid—by Snobs."
