London: Hakluyt Society, 1854. Book. Very good- condition. Hardcover. First Edition. Octavo (8vo). 8, viii, xl, 295 pages of text including an index. Original blue stamped hardcover binding with gilt spine lettering and front cover gilt stamp of the ship "Victoria." Spine is heavily darkened and rubbed, with chipping to spine extremities and tearing at hinges; protected in custom stiff archival mylar. Illustrated with a large black & white linen-backed fold-out map. First Series, No. 16. Original subscriber's name in ink on title page, and on a Working Men's College Library bookplate on front endpaper; library label on front endpaper, and a few oval stamps in margins of text; no spine markings. Inner hinges are cracked; first few pages are loosening, but textblock remains intact. From the 1628 edition 'collected out of the notes of Master Francis Fletcher', collated with the British Museum, Sloane MS 61..
