The narrative of World Light is based on the life story of an Icelandic folk poet who died after a great poverty and hardship. A very good translation of Magnus Magnusson. The author was born in Reykjavik in 1902 and was known for his fervent Catholicism which he abandoned as he developed leftist sympathies. Bound in blue cloth, spine lettering silver, near fine in near fine unclipped dust jacket.

Sinopsis

Halladór Laxness was born near Reykjavík, Iceland, in 1902. His first novel was published when he wsa seventeen. The undisputed master of contemporary Icelandic fiction, and one of the outstanding novelists of the century, he has written more than sixty books, including novels, short stories, essays, poems, plays, and memoirs. In 1955 he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature. He died in 1998.
