New York And London: Merrill & Baker. Very Good. 1900. Edition des Aquarelles. Hardcover. 37 volumes in full contemporary varigated autumn polished calf. Five spine bands with elaborate gilt decoration on spines & covers. Centered on each cover is an emblematic crest relating to the title location, in gold on inlaid green levant. Doublures inside each cover: Ivory levant bordered by variegated brown calf, all richly gilted. Facing the doublures are single endpapers of watered silk followed by double endpapers of marbled green Morris paper. Top edges gilt, Deckle cut page edges. A few leaves uncut. 663 hand-colored photographic illustrations (some mounted) , each with a tissue guard that has the title printed opposite the image. Condition: All bindings are solid. Texts are tight, clean & intact with only a rare spot. Most volumes have a few superficial edge &/or corner scuffs; The majority are Near Fine, the remainder VG+ & VG. England, vol 1, has a single corner rubbed through. Ireland has a tiny chip inside spine head. LIMITED EDITION, one of twenty six, of the "Edition Des Aquarelles, this set marked with a star rather than a letter. An extensive travel collection collated & complete.
