Collier under the Colonial Press imprint. Set in Acceptable Condition. Several volumes are in acceptable condition due to weak front hinges, especially at the point where the frontispieces were inserted. Covered in dark blue cloth, except for olive green index volume. Gilt lettering often faded and illegible on spines. Condition of each volume is listed below. Missing volume 13, works of Walter Bagehot, and volume 36, the third volume of Hippolyte Taine's History of English Literature. The set is unusual in that it is of very high intellectual value, with multiple volumes of folk tales from all over the world, orations, philosophy, and serious intellectual histories.
