Boards are a little rub worn, slight shelf wear to corners, spine and edges. Corners are a little bumped. Spine ends are mildly crushed. Light tanning to spine and edges. Book has a forward lean. Boards are bowed.

London: Chapman & Hall , 1926. Difficult to rate this scarce, beautifully printed and illustrated book because of a few "contributions" from a child reader. Let's call it "Good only" (spotted front cover & spine; spine wrinkled at top and bottom; worn corners; rubbed decorated covers; rear hinge starting) without dust jacket. We're attaching scans of two color plates. You will note that the first plate shows Christabel's travel method to Fairyland--riding a paint brush. Unfortunately, a dutiful child-reader unleashed her own brush--or crayon--on many of the black and white sketches, carefully coloring in Christabel's hair with purple. Modified a few pre-Raphaelite fairies on a color plate too. So I suppose you could buy it purely for the seven unimproved color plates.. 1st Edition. Hard Cover. Illus. by Pauline Gautier.
