With drawings by Willi Baumeister and prints by Baumeister, Richard Janthur, Josef Hegenbarth, Rolf Nesch, and Emil Schumacher. Baumeister (1889-1955) had long been interested in the ancient art and culture of the Near East. Each of 34 leaves of plates has descriptive letterpress on verso. Two sheets with copperplates outside numbering on pp49 & 58 of some copies are not present here, also an explanation of the frontis to Part II.
