The fore edge of the leaf for pages 57-58 has a tear and crease in the center.

"The X Bar X Boys was a series of western adventures for boys created by the Stratemeyer Syndicate and written under the pseudonym of James Cody Ferris and published by Grosset & Dunlap. At first, a total of 2 or 3 volumes were published per year, but in 1930, it slowed to 1 book per year. In 1942, the series was discontinued. Frontispiece illustration by Walter S. Rogers.Tight binding with perfect hinges. Bright red covers with a few areas on edges with rubbing to a lighter shade. Spine a little faded, with lettering clear & strong. Unopened, clean pages with tan stain at upper edges in middle section. Even green dye at top ends, with old splash at one end. Lacking jacket..
