Sobre este artículo
Vienna, 1908. Publisher's wrappers. Book measures: 15 x 16 cm. Unpaged: b/w plates. Text in German. This copy shows signs of wear, with the first 10-15 pages being loose and the wrappers chipped and faded.

On the brink of transformative events in artistic culture, Russia witnessed a mystic revival of ancient traditions. Amidst a transitional era between the declining patriarchal world and a burgeoning modern society yearning for social reform, Russian artists rediscovered their ancestral roots. The artists rejected Western academic precision in favor of a rougher, more national aesthetic, employing Russian techniques reflective of their individual temperaments. However, their technical mastery varied, with some still influenced by French styles.

The exhibition catalog showcases the intersection of Austrian and Russian art movements in the early 20th century. The exhibition featured Malyutin, Kustodiev, Lanceray, and others, while painters like Serov, Dobuzhinsky, and Sudeikin remained enchanted by historical motifs. Roehrich, distinct yet national in his own way, focused on the primitive aspects of the North.

Working Commitee:
Anton Nowak - President.
Otto Friedrich, Anton Hanak; Friedrich König; Ferdinand Kruis; Robert Oerley, Ludwig Wieden. SPACE DESIGN: Working Committee
HANGING COMMISSION: Friedrich König; Anton Nowak; Ludwig Wieden.
POSTER: Leon Bakst.
Rudolf Lechner, secretary.
